The six of them have bonded to become a make-shift family. Still, Eddie and Crash act more like sons than brother of Ellie and her grouchy woolly mammoth husband, Manny, whom they have met during a devastating flood, along with Manny's two best friends, Sid, a clumsy ground sloth and Diego, a sarcastic yet altruistic saber-toothed tiger. Ellie, their adopted woolly mammoth sister, is over-protective and worries too much. They need plenty of wide-open space to practice their extreme stunts and are eager for a bit of independence. The thrill-seeking possum brothers, Crash and Eddie, have grown restless in Snow Valley. They are rescued by their one-eyed pal, the adventure-loving, dinosaur-hunting weasel Buck Wild, and together embark on a mission to save the Lost World from dinosaur domination." -Disney+ At a mere 82 minutes, the film doesn't overstay its welcome but it feels like the series is on the verge of extinction."Desperate for some distance from their older sister Ellie, the thrill-seeking possum brothers Crash and Eddie set out to find a place of their own, but quickly find themselves trapped in the Lost World, a massive cave underground. However, the filmmakers are just going over old ground now and the slung-together story, predictable narrative beats and tired messaging don't help. It's not the most delicately rendered or smartly scripted of animations, yet there's still an appealing goofiness to its visual style and at least some of its trademark energy. The trio are assisted by Buck's old partner Zee (Justina Machado) as they tangle with megalomaniac dinosaur Orson (decent work from Free Guy's Utkarsh Ambudkar). Simon Pegg does return as the eponymous one-eyed weasel, who becomes a hero to pinheaded possum brothers Crash and Eddie (now voiced by Vincent Tong and Aaron Harris) when they run into him whilst exploring the Lost World. Most of the talented voice cast are gone, replaced with less recognisable names, which cheapens and confuses things. The sixth instalment in the Ice Age franchise, and the first to go straight to streaming, marks a sad turning point.
